If you’re like many smokers out there, the chances are good that you’ve had friends explain the numerous benefits of vaping and vapor products to you. Whether you’re more interested in exploring vaping out of a desire to quit smoking, or simply wish to experience new flavors using a dry herb vaporizer or oil pen vaporizer, there’s plenty to enjoy!
When shopping for a new vaporizer you’ll notice that they range in price from under $50 to over $600. As a general statement, you get what you pay for, so vapes on the lower end tend to be made from lower quality materials and they tend to not perform as well as some of the more expensive models. However, there are a few exceptions to this rule.
1. “Pocketable” Size
Of course it has to fit in your front and/or back pocket! When you’re buying a portable vape, obviously the main feature you’re looking for is portability so it’s important to look at what is needed for the vape you intend to buy. There are a variety of portable vaporizers ranging from simple, easy to use, to more complicated. Some vapes only require that you have vape juice and a charger; whereas others require you to carry separate bowls and wicks depending on whether you intend to vape juice, wax, or oils. This can make it less portable by requiring you to carry more parts.

2. Replaceable and Rechargeable Batteries
If you are out and about and there is no electric outlets, you need a device that allows you to easily remove the drained battery and replace it with a fully charged battery. The more you have of those, the more you can essentially vape. Having a vaporizer with a built-in battery would require you to find an outlet to plug your device and charge it.

3. Storage for the Mouthpiece
The last thing you want is to get your mouthpiece dirty or dent. If the vaporizer allows you to store the mouthpiece inside the device or in a case, that is definitely a plus.

4. Total Temperature Precision Control
If you are hiking or snowboarding, you want your portable vaporizer to regulate the temperature in a precise way, not being affected by altitude, ambient temperature, or pressure changes.

5. Pre-Packable Canisters
This is one of the best features you can find in a portable vaporizer. Let’s say you are tailgating or jamming to your favorite band at a concert outdoors and you just finished your vaping session. Afterwards, you really want to continue vaping so you have to unload and re-load your chambers/oven. In the majority of the cases, you would have to take out your dry herb, wax, oil, or e-liquid in public and manage to put it into the chamber without wasting some material. This is not convenient at all. On the other hand, if you have canisters already packed with your material before you leave home, all you have to do is swap the consumed canister with a new one (just like the replaceable batteries). The cleaning can be done when you get back home.

So these are the five things you should look for when buying a portable vaporizer. These devices can range in price from $50 to sometimes $600 so make sure you know what you want and that what you’re getting is going to work for you. You pay for what you get. A one-time investment is better than multiple trials to get to the same result (and it also prevents a lot of frustration). Lastly, it is important to look at the manufacturer’s warranty policy. The longer coverage period, the better.
